Hi, I’m Euan
Founder and Head Career Coach at my 90,000.
Do you…
Dream of a fulfilling career that truly suits you?
Want to accelerate your career progress?
And realise more of your potential?
If you said YES to any or all of these, then you’re in the right place.
For years, business leaders across the globe have used coaching to their advantage. Be it to find clarity on important decisions, polish their leadership style or explore what keeps them up at night. Business leaders know that a conversation with their coach is time well spent.
But why should coaching be reserved for business leaders only?
Why shouldn’t you be able to reap the rewards of coaching today and throughout your 90,000-hour career?
That’s why I offer one-to-one coaching over the phone and video call. To bring the power of coaching to a generation of aspiring future leaders.
What’s in a name?
my 90,000 translates simply as “my career”, as each of us will work 90,000 hours on average in our careers. This name embodies two beliefs that I hold dear:
The “my” part: these are your 90,000 hours and no-one else’s. That’s why I’ll never tell you what to do. Instead, I help you to decide how you will spend them.
The “90,000” part: I believe that coaching should be available for individuals throughout their 90,000 hours, not just for business leaders at the height of their careers. Why should they get to enjoy all the fun and value of coaching?
For this reason also, I try to avoid the concentrated coaching block approach that so many coaches seem to sell: weekly sessions spanning 6+ months at great expense (£3500+). Unless you have a money tree growing in your back garden, that concentrated block will end up being your one, very expensive experience of coaching. And in turn, coaching will impact less than 1% of your 90,000-hour career, leaving many pivotal moments in your career bereft of coaching. Moreover, when you can make huge progress in 30 minutes of coaching, I truly believe that most clients don’t need weekly sessions for 6 months straight.
I prefer a more impactful approach. Typically, my clients schedule a block of 3 or 4 consecutive weekly sessions with me, after which we work on a little and often basis (for example, a session every month). That way, my clients can spread their coaching budget out over years (rather than months) and can continue to reap the rewards, harnessing coaching when they need it most.
My approach
Essential to the effectiveness of coaching is your coach’s mindset.
Five ingredients underpin my coaching mindset:
Safe: I create judgement-free, confidential spaces
Present: I give my total attention in every moment
Curious: I assume nothing is obvious
Courageous: I ask the difficult questions that make the difference
Unwavering: I believe in my clients more than they might believe in themselves
My story
For several years, I knew I wasn't on quite the right career path. Though I enjoyed elements of my work in sales, strategy consulting and market research, I felt like I was walking up the wrong mountain.
But what career was truly right for me?
This question felt overwhelming and impossible to answer. And I began to wonder whether it was even possible to find work I loved that also paid the bills…
Fortunately, through trial and error, research and a lot of self-reflection, I finally figured it out.
And it turns out...it's actually not that complicated!
In fact, most of us already have a lot of the information we need to discover our ideal jobs and careers - it's sitting inside our heads. We just need the right process, exercises and questions to access it.
Now as a Professional Career Coach, I have the privilege of helping aspiring professionals to discover careers that are truly right for them and to craft them into something deeply fulfilling and rewarding.
When I’m not coaching, I spend my time consulting organisations on Behaviour and Culture Change. In both cases, I find the work fascinating and continually rewarding: be that helping individuals to maximise their career, or fostering high performance and psychologically safe workplaces.
A potted overview of my career history, but I hope a helpful one.
